2012 September 11th Memorial Stair Climb

On Sunday, September 9th, firefighters from our department participated in the

third annual September 11th Memorial Stair Climb held at the

Tennessee Tower in downtown Nashville.

Firefighters from all over the state climbed the tower 3 times in memory of

their brothers who perished on September 11, 2001.  Each firefighter wore

a picture of one of the 343 firefighters from the Fire Department of

New York City who died that day.  They each climbed a total of 110 stories,

similar to the height of the World Trade Centers which collapsed.  As each

firefighter ended his climb, he rang the fire bell outside and read the

name of the FDNY firefighter whose picture he carried.

Our department is very proud of these men for volunteering to make this

climb for the third year in a row.
