Firefighter Spotlight

Firefighter Daniel Balsbaugh

Why did you join the Hendersonville Fire Department?

I joined the Hendersonville Fire Department because of an event that happened in my life

when I was seventeen.  I lost a sibling to a tragic car accident.  The professionalism

of the firefighters that attempted to save her was astounding.  I knew in my heart that one day

I wanted to work in a career surrounded by people that had the heart and compassion

to help others as they did.

What you like most about Hendersonville Fire Department?

First and foremost, the brotherhood.  You ask any fireman out there and you will

never hear them say they are in it for the money.  We are in it to help others.

The Hendersonville Fire Department provides us with the best equipment, training,

and most qualified people for the job.

What is the most significant development in your career?

Achieving my degree in Fire Science and becoming an EMT-IV.

Any Community Activities?

I attend Church.  I constantly look for opportunities to volunteer to help

others in need in our community.

  What are your future plans?

I love my job and could not imagine myself doing anything else.

I do plan to continue my education and training in hopes to move up the

ranks when the opportunity arises.

I have two wonderful children…my daughter Bethany and my son Tyler.

They are my blessings and inspire me to live a life to make them proud.

Being involved with this department has been such a blessing in my life.

I’ve made some great friendships and know there will be many more to come

as the department continues to grow.  We are one of the most well equipped

departments any city could ask for.  Many thanks go out to all my brothers and sisters

that I get to work alongside.  That makes working for the

Hendersonville Fire Department the best place I could ever work.
