Firefighter Spotlight - November 2014

Firefighter / Tim Griffin

Why did you join the Hendersonville Fire Department?

My dad was a firefighter so I grew up around the fire hall and comradery that came along with it. I chose Hendersonville because my mom lives here and I love the city itself and where it is going.

What do you like most about HFD?

I like the direction our department is heading. We stay committed to training which not only benefits us as firefighters but the community as well.

What is the most significant development in your career?

Up to this point, the most significant development in my career was being given the chance to work for the Hendersonville Fire Department. Recently, I had the chance for promotion to Senior Firefighter, which was a great learning experience.

Community Activities

I am currently a part of the Hendersonville Fire Department's Honor Guard which allows me to be a part of community events such as the Veterans Day parade or the 4th of July festivities.

What are your future plans?

My future plans would include moving up our promotional ladder and perhaps one day being chief of this great department.

Family Information

I am married to Katrina Griffin for the last 14 years and could not have done anything without her. I have three children: Chase, 14; Tyler, 12; and Rylie, 9. They have all been more than supportive of my choices and me over the years.

Additional Information

I am currently balancing my time between the HFD and the Army National Guard and I sincerely hope that I can do my family, friends, and the community proud.
