Chaplain & Firefighter Joel Nelson
(With his wife, Candi, and their daughter)
First, I would like to say it is a privilege to serve as one of the chaplains of the Hendersonville Fire Department. To be honest, I did not anticipate entering the fire service or serving as a fire department chaplain, but I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to be able to serve others in both of these positions. Shortly after joining the Hendersonville Fire Department, I had the opportunity to work alongside our now retired chaplain, Dennis Allen. During that time, I was able to observe firsthand how a chaplain has the potential to serve in a unique, impactful, and beneficial way to the fire department and the community in general.
The opportunity to serve others in additional, meaningful ways is what draws me to the chaplaincy. My hope is to serve the fire department members and their families, and the citizens of the city of Hendersonville in any way I can offer assistance. I have the pleasure of serving alongside Chaplain Randy Compton and if we can ever be of any assistance to you or your family, please feel free to contact either of us at any time.
Lastly, I would like to offer a big thank-you to everyone who has provided support, guidance, and encouragement throughout this process.
